Abstract
“FOR WE CAN DO NOTHING AGAINST THE TRUTH, BUT FOR THE TRUTH” 2 Corinthians 13:8
This treatise is on the battle between the King James Bible and the hundred other versions of the English Bible. The KJB is translated from the age-old preserved text, the traditional Textus Receptus, by devout scholars, most faithful and true. It has reigned supreme for three hundred years until challenged by Westcott and Hort from 1870 which resulted in its revision in 1881. This has opened the floodgate for one hundred other versions each claiming to be God's faithful word.
That the KJB is good fruit from the good tree of the Textus Receptus through good translators using the technique of formal or verbal equivalence, and the one hundred versions of an evil fruit from the corrupt text of Westcott and Hort through liberal and ecumenical scholars using the subjective technique of dynamic equivalence, are vividly depicted in graphic form in the pages of this
book. Do we agree with this presentation by the author? We have no difficulty in standing on his side. For all the modem versions are based on the corrupt text of Westcott and Hort, in one way or another.
Hitherto, we have been hoodwinked by a conspiracy of silence on the evil character of these two angels of light in textual criticism until the recent exposure of their true colours. The records of the sons of Westcott and Hort, above all others, testify to their shame.
Westcott was founder of the Hermes Club at Cambridge, a Club that was reputed to be a homosexual club. Three years later, together with Hort and others, he branched into the Ghost Club, which scoffers called the Bogey Club. Bogey means devil. They delved into necromancy, which is communicating with the dead. This is an abomination forbidden by the Lord (Deuteronomy 18:11, 12). Both Westcott and Hort were secret worshippers of Mary. They were friends of Darwin, Freud (called a Fraud in The Straits Times) and of Carl Jung, all enemies of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. They denied the infallability and inerrancy of Scripture, the Virgin Birth of Christ, His blood atonement and resurrection. The Creation and Temptation that led to the Fall they derisively declared to be myths.
Now, the Bible asks, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully" (Psalm 24:3-4). With impure hearts of rebellion against God and unclean, unconverted hands, how dare they touch the sacred Text of Holy Scripture! The thousands of alterations and deletions they had made on the basis of Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus versus the Majority Text resulted in the scissoring of the equivalent of 1 and 2 Peter. They cut out the passage of Jesus pardoning the woman taken in adultery (John 7:53-8:11), the last twelve verses of Mark and the Johannine Comma (1 John 5:7,8), maligning them to be later interpolations. In so doing, they had cut themselves from the Lord who bought them (2 Peter 2:1). Those who follow Westcott and Hort in taking away Scripture beware, “God shall take away his part out of the book of life...” (Revelation 22:19). What more can we say of the one hundred “perversions” that are based on Westcott and Hort? They are already corrupted at source.
As to judging between KJB and the one hundred “perversions,” the unanimous testimony of believers throughout Church history, by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, suffices. Says the Apostle John, “But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him” (1 John 2:20, 27).
Let us take, for example, John 3:16, the most repeated verse in the Bible. The KJB renders monogenes as only begotten, but the NIV as one and only, clipping out the begotten. The doctrine of eternal generation of the Son, held time immemorial by the universal Church, is forever struck out by the NIV. By the anointing of the Holy Spirit you can judge between the KJB and NIV. You have the answer.
Indeed, “we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth” (2 Corinthians 13:8). Amen.
